November 2014 - January 2015

The months of November through January were filled with: Visits from the National IHDF offices (NY), a day at the Palmetto Golf Club, our annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive (at the Alper JCC), introduction to our student enrichment sessions (Positive Action Program), and our annual MLK day of Service (at Gwen Cherry Park).  Enjoy..

August - October 2014

As I update this entry, I find myself in a very reflective mood.  While this August is just like any other one, it is NOT.  Yes, August marks the beginning of the school year.  But this will be the LAST beginning of the school year for a majority of my  Dreamers who will graduate from high school this June.  So while, many of the events, trips, activities, etc. will look very similar to all the ones in the past; I will cherish these minutes, days, and months.  August through  October saw the beginning  of football season for our Dreamers, college tours to FAU,  A college presentation from Fairfield U., and even a Wedding!!!  Enjoy..

IHAD Summer Academy 2014

As our Dreamers embark on their 2014-15 school year; it is time to reflect and acknowledge all of those individuals who assisted with our annual Summer Academy.  This year's academy ran from June 28- July 28th and was held on the campus of Florida International University Biscayne Campus.  Thank you's go out to the FIU Staff and Julissa Castellanos who were tremendous in providing us with space to operate.  Additionally we would like to thank our amazing IHAD Summer Staff: Mr. Major and Mr. Boldon for providing excellent academic coverage for our ACT Exam preperations.  Our Dreamers also engaged in internship opportunities hosted by several on campus departments, Bank United, and the North Dade Justice Center.  At the conclusion of our 20 day academy, our Dreamers took a trip to the Univerisity of North Florida (Thank YOU SO MUCH Phillip Simmons and his UNF ambassadors) for a campus tour.  We closed our summer with a trip to historic St. Augustine FL. where our Dreamers walked the walls of the Castillo de San Marcos and Colonial Quarters.  As always GREAT job to those Dreamers who attended each and every day of Summer Academy (that's what you're supposed to do) and our Americorp Vistas - Ms. Bruni and Ms. Kaleena. None of this would be possible if not for our amazing funder - The Childrens Trust (Thanks for all your support- especially Aundray our contract mgr.)
Enjoy the photos...
